Nuova edizione della mappa delle Dolomiti

New edition of the Dolomites panoramic map

A new print run with small typographic improvements

The first print run of the panoramic map of the Dolomites went very well: over the course of a few months, starting from July, all copies were sold out!

With the new print run approaching, I took the opportunity to refine the typographic setup, while keeping the overall style that characterizes all MountainCarto maps.

For this new edition, I introduced a more coherent and readable typography:

  • place names of mountains, valleys, and rivers set in a clear serif typeface, well suited to the terrain forms;
  • towns and villages set in a clean, condensed sans serif;
  • labels now printed in black instead of white, a choice that improves legibility without overwhelming the design.

Below you can explore the interactive version of the map, zooming in freely on any area you’re curious about. And if you’d like, you can also embed it on your own website or blog using the share button inside the map and following the instructions.

The overall result remains true to the MountainCarto style, but with a more balanced sense of harmony and clarity.

Finish and materials: a small survey among customers

Recently, I ran a brief survey among some customers to evaluate the map’s lamination: matte or glossy. The preference was very clear: matte. For this reason, the new edition keeps the same finish as the previous one.

The new map is already available in the shop! 😊🎁
